The old fashioned tropical aquarium fish bowl as seen on television and cartoons has mostly beenreplaced for serious fish-keeping by a rectangular glass tank, generally made of glass or with a metal frame and glass sides with a bottom of glass or some other rigid material. Acrylic tanks are also becoming popular, with some claiming they are brighter, lighter and stronger than glass tanks.
